The integrity of MC 330/331 cargo tanks was assessed by conducting six tasks: Literature review--accident data and professional literature were reviewed; Fabrication practices--production practices of three fabricators were evaluated; Carrier practices--maintenance and requalification practices of nine carriers were evaluated; Inspection and testing--thirty-seven tanks (transports and bobtails) were tested; Shipper practices--the QC systems of nine shippers (LPG and NH3) were evaluated; and Industry participation--an industry conference was held.
