In order to estimate the maximum payload capacity the attainable specific impulse of solid propellants (330 sec with the use of Beryllium) and the structural factors of the motors are discussed. Using these values, the weight of synchronous satellites could be increased from present 200 kg up to 270 kg. The optimization of the flight path and the parking orbit of the ELDO II Launcher would result in another increase up to a maximum of 320 kg. (Author)
