This report deals with the projection of air traffic over the three major oceanic areas: Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian. The study develops the projections, based upon anticipated growth in passenger and cargo traffic, for flows in each of the oceanic areas. Based upon a prediction model of the daily traffic patterns, the hourly distributions of traffic over the oceanic areas is derived. Analysis of these projections indicates that the number of flights during peak hours in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceanic areas will be similar while the peaks in the Indian oceanic area will be half as great for the period of interest.
