The results of an experimental program to study the effect of organic reinforcements embedded in solid propellant rocket grains are presented. Criteria for materials selection is defined. A comparison of the mechanical behavior of rein forced and unreinforced propellant beams in simple flexure is presented, and ballistic com patibility of reinforcing materials embedded in the propellant is demonstrated.
