The study has three primary objectives: To provide a comprehensive view of motorcycle safety as it presently exists in the United States through information obtained from existing data and current state practices and activities. To provide suggestions to enable the National Highway Safety Bureau to formulate performance standards that would guide the states and political subdivisions in their planning of effective remedial programs directed toward the reduction of the numbers of persons killed or injured in motorcycle accidents. To identify present and future information needs to improve the validity and potential usefulness of these standards. (Author)
