The statement concerns the development of a Safety Rest Area at Mile 147 on Alaska State Route no. 3 (the Anchorage-Fairbanks Highway) within Denali State Park and about thirteen miles north of the Chulitna River Bridge. The 20-acre area will provide vehicle parking, including spaces for long trucks, picnic facilities, and a latrine building with flush toilets and hot water. The rest area will be in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, State of Alaska. The primary impact associated with the development of this convenience facility will follow completion and will be the result of the concentration of vehicles and people in a limited area. Local deterioration should be minimized by the presence of a resident supervisor. No existing cultural development will be effected.
