A stress and loading history study of three bridge sites was conducted over a four year period. A data collection system including a minicomputer, was developed and utilized to obtain the stress history data. Load history data was obtained at a weigh station near the bridge sites. Eighteen test periods were utilized with a total time of approximately seventy-seven (77) hours. The results are presented in the form of truck classifications, distribution of vehicle weights, and stress ranges caused by truck traffic. The maximum stress ranges measured were less than 6000 psi. The stress history data were examined in two ways; namely, only one stress range per truck and more than one stress range per truck. No significant difference in the two methods of data reduction was observed for stress ranges larger than 2000 psi. It was also noted that the high stress ranges were related to the number of five axle tractor trailer trucks observed during the test.
