Techniques and guidelines are presented for the design of avionic systems to assure compatibility with automated support systems and maintenance techniques. In particular this guide facilitates compliance with Navy specifications AR-8 and AR-10 and is intended to promote improved avionics maintainability and testability using the VAST system. Though specific guidelines are given for avionic systems supported by VAST, it is expected that this text will also be applicable to other systems supported by automatic test equipment. (Author)
