This report presents summarized information related to the Tactical Aircrew Combat Training System (TACTS) training improvements program. The two major sections of the report area addressed to: (1) a description of a computer based TACTS debrief system, referred to as the Performance Assessment and Appraisal System (PAAS), and (2) a problem definition study of air intercept missile (AIM) envelope recognition training. The preliminary design of a computer based system has been completed and a single design module, Performance Assessment and Combat Effectiveness (PACE), is ready for operational test and evaluation. Summarized information from a more comprehensive study of U.S. Navy air-to-air missile envelope training problems is included. Recommendations for improving fleet envelope recognition training are reviewed. (Author)
