The restraint system for door gunners in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter is equipped with tether straps that allow them to stand up from jump seats to engage targets while still being secured to the aircraft. This freedom of motion has resulted in the restraint system being inadvertently released by the buckle contacting the M60-D machine gun and the aircraft structure. This report evaluates modifications to the restraint system handle to prevent inadvertent releases. Keywords: Aviator's restraint system; Seat belts; MOPP (Mission-Oriented Protective Posture).
