The Janus combat simulation was used to compare the relative effectiveness of three aircraft fleets to reinforce a ground combat operation. The relative capabilities of these fleets were compared in terms of the outcome of the reinforced combat operation instead of simply tabulating tonnage delivered. The tactical scenario stressed time-sensitive mobility requirements and the requirement to negotiate a mid-intensity air defense threat. A fleet composed of V-22 tiltrotors and CH-53E helicopters was shown to be more effective than one composed of CH-60(S) and CH-53E helicopters. 17 refs., 34 figs., 8 tabs.
