The primary installations of helicopters are described with a view to helicopter design. Some relevant helicopter principles are explained. The different types of engine installations, their fuel control systems, and instrumentation as well as the fuel installation are described. The general requirements for transmission systems, the different transmission configurations and their components, the lubrication of the gear casings, and the suspension of the main deceleration box are treated. Rotor heads, rotor blades, and couple compensation systems are presented. The different helicopter control systems are described.
