The project proposes the construction for a new dam and spillway located close to the existing Melones Dam. Access roads, resident engineer facilities, downstream public overlook and safety scaling of the damsite have been completed. Additional project related work will include road and utility relocations, powerhouse, switchyard, surge tank, reservoir clearing and initial recreation facility construction. A number of caves and archeological sites will be inundated. (Author)
