The first volume, The Supervisor's Manual, furnishes the reader with the elementary notions of the methods and resources of which use is made in the development of the theory of gunsight cameras and aerial gunnery. The treatment of the Bomber vs Fighter problem, with the bomber flying a straight line course at constant speed, has been developed in relatively extended form since it is the basic problem from which others may be handled by suitable modification and extension. The other problems discussed in similar but less detailed manner are four: Bomber vs Fighter, with the Bomber undertaking Evasive Action; The Fighter vs Bomber; The Angle of Attack and Skid Problem; and The Flight-Path Problem. The reader is given a geometrical interpretation of the different situations, a brief theoretical treatment is presented, and the analytical work is detailed with the aid of Flow Charts and associated Form Sheets.
