The report summarizes the effects of uniform and differential speed limits on transportation safety and traffic operations as determined by the examination of speed and accident data collected in the performance of this research effort. A review of the literature related to differential speed limits is provided in chapter 2. The research methodology is discussed in chapter 3, while the data collection and reduction efforts are described in chapter 4. Chapter 5 contains the results of analysis of speed data, and chapter 6 contains the accident analysis results. Finally, a summary of the results and conclusions are provided in Chapter 7.
