Modem military aircraft make use of fly-by-wire flight control systems to enhance the pilot's ability to control the vehicle. Fly-by-wire systems were first developed in the 1960s and were used to alleviate the pilot's workload. Today, virtually all modern military aircraft use feedback control systems to modify the vehicle dynamics and to provide some level of autonomy.
