The patent relates to a blade design for propellers of watercraft wherein the blades of the propeller are weakened in the line of impact but retain substantially all of their strength along the line of hydrodynamic load. Such a weakening permits the blades of a propeller to shear off or yield upon impact with an object without damage to the motor, shaft or pitch changing mechanism.
