The purpose of this project was to verify conclusions drawn from a previous NAFEC test of frequency diversity in an L-Band system, that similar results may be obtained in a semi-automatic S-Band system such as the ASR-5/RVDP, and to determine the extent of any further improvements which may be realized for airport surveillance radars. A frequency diversity modification was developed for the National Aviation Facilities Experimental Center (NAFEC) Airport Surveillance Radar -5 (ASR-5) test bed. The modified system was evaluated to determine the extent of performance improvements realized with this technique. (Author)
