A preliminary analysis is presented of the pilot describing functions of six volunteer subjects found by using the new preview display at UTIAS. The tasks were pure pursuit tracking with rate control dynamics; the pilot being given a preview of the input signal. The amount of preview was varied between zero and 0.8 seconds and where possible, an 8-parameter theoretical pilot model was fitted to the describing function data in order to enhance the quantitative description of these functions.
