The head-on collision occurred on a Friday at 3:40 p.m. on a four-lane, undivided rural highway in California. Vehicle 1 was traveling faster than the posted speed; when it entered a curve and came upon vehicle 2 traveling too slow for the highway conditions. To prevent a rear end collision car 1 swerved but in so doing impacted with vehicle 3 traveling in the opposite direction.
