The report gives the results for 1965 of a traffic census which has been in progress, since January 1956, at 50 points on the trunk and classified roads of Great Britain. Motor vehicle mileage on these roads in 1965 is estimated to have been 6 per cent higher than in 1964, 42 per cent higher than in 1960 and 95 per cent higher than in 1956. The motor vehicle mileage on all motorways has been estimated from available counts; in 1965 it was nearly 3 per cent of that on all other roads. (Author)
