The aerodynamic study of half a wing at the wall involving 3-D flow has shown that global results obtained in dynamic stall are comparable to those of a wing in the same conditions but in a 2-D flow. In particular, the phenomenon of lift overshoot has been observed. These results support the idea that 3-D dynamic stalls occuring on retreating blades of helicopter rotors can be approached by 2-D dynamic stalls.
