Mill expenditures for pulpwood in the Southeast decreased by 0.7 percent, or $11 million, in 1988. Weighted average price for hardwood roundwood rose 25 cents to $38.05 per cord, while that of softwood dropped 15 cents to $53 per cord. Transport of pulpwood roundwood and chips by truck continues to increase, while transport by rail declines.
