The report is an investigation of the system and subsystem design elements required to produce a remotely landed back-up vehicle for the lunar surface, given the time and technology constraints of the 1972-1973 period. The study investigates the structural, environmental and electrical requirements for the vehicle, which consists of a Shelter structure placed upon a modified Lunar Module Descent Stage. It also provides a brief description of the LM Descent Stage, and the equipment relocations necessary to support the Shelter concept. The entire vehicle stacks on a Saturn V as would a LM vehicle, and is launched, orbited and landed in much the same manner. (Author)
