The report, conducted by Hagler Bailly Services, Inc., was funded by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency. It examines the feasibility of building a new rail line linking the eastern Bolivian rail system with the western system. The report contains information on the feasibility of the concept, the business structure, the revenue and costs, and the preliminary assessment of the financial feasibility of the project. Due to the reconfiguration of the interconnection prc stemming from the findings of the Phase 1 study, the exact figure for the U.S. export potential is not available. However, the bulk of the exports would come from equipment needed to provide the transfer of freight between highway and rail roads, from the products needed to construct a new rail line, and from the products needed to construct intermodal facilities.
