The paper proposes that the Navy develop an Aviation Clinical Psychology (ACP) program that would complement the Flight Surgeon Program by providing mental health services tailored to the aviation community. Using a community psychology model, it is argued that clinical psychologists providing services to the aviation community could develop better interventions and have more credibility by completing a training program similar to that for flight surgeons, aerospace experimental psychologists, and aviation physiologists.
