Worldwide, the aerospace industry is experiencing significant changes whose implications may not be well understood. Increasing cooperation and collaboration among nations will result in a more international manufacturing environment, altering the current structures of domestic and foreign aerospace industries. International alliances will result in a more rapid diffusion of technology, increasing pressure on aerospace organizations to push forward with new technological developments and to take steps designed to maximize their inclusion into the research and development (R and D) process. To remain world leaders in industry, aerospace producers must take the steps necessary to improve and maintain the professional competency of aerospace engineers and scientists and to enhance innovation and productivity as well as maximize the inclusion of recent technological developments into the R and D process.
