Subsystems design aspects and interfaces with the space laboratory of the Spacelab borne lidar for atmospheric research projects are presented. Subsystem design aspects include laser, telescope, support structures, transmitting optics, secondary optics, alignment, synchronization, detectors package, safety design, and lidar budgets. Spacelab interfaces dealt with are mechanics, thermics, optics, electricity/electronics, electromagnetic compatibility, lidar management, contamination, orbits, and safety.
