The missile is designed for flight according to a predetermined trajectory with an intermediate portion of the trajectory outside the atmosphere of the earth. The head falls on a target. The missile includes a head carried by a booster. The head carries the payload and the booster includes the power plant. The head has its center of gravity disposed forwardly of its center of aerodynamic pressure to produce the restoring torque of the head in the terminal portion of the trajectory.
