The report contains an examination of the en route computer system conducted at the Federal Aviation Administration headquarters in Washington, D.C., National Aviation Facilities Experimental Center in Atlantic City, N.J., and selected Air Route Traffic Control Centers located throughout the United States. The review included analysis of the FAA National Airspace System reporting systems and applicable directives; maintenance logs and other documentation for the two types of computers and other peripheral equipment which are part of the en route system; contractor and FAA studies of the current system and proposed replacement system; and, other existing or planned control systems which interface with the current computer system or the proposed replacement system.
