A discussion is presented on the kinds of vehicles which might be employed for extensive exploration on Mars after landings by manned expeditions. This preliminary look is intended to answer questions concerning the feasibility of designing such vehicles; however, little effort is made to answer questions concerning the desirability of these vehicles when considered within the context of total expedition requirements. (For example, Martian orbital rendezvous vehicles might be of dual or of multi-purpose design.) The preliminary nature of the discussion is stressed. (Author)
