The proposed project includes primarily the reconstruction of the NE-SW runway (4-22) and the construction of a 900 foot extension at that runway's north end, resulting in a total dimension of 6900 feet by 150 feet of lighted runway adequate for the scheduled air carrier DC-9 aircraft presently using the airport. No increase in level or type of air or surface vehicular traffic is anticipated as a result of this project; no increase in air, water or noise pollution is expected, but rather a facilitation of better control of existing minor noise pollution' one non-minority family is being displaced; adequate replacement housing is available; short segment of parish road to be relocated. Airport's present tolerable impact upon environment is expected to be substantially unchanged. This is a non-controversial project designed to provide an adequate, safe, air carrier airport for Baton Rouge area's present needs. (Author)
