The report presents an overview of the traffic safety problem in relation to the age of the driver. Emphasis is placed on the older drivers. Crash involvement rates are developed for each age group of drivers based on their estimated annual travel. The consequences of these crashes, in terms of injuries and fatalities, are analyzed to assess the contribution of older ages to the safety problem.
