The report was prepared in order to supply basic data for an Aircraft Loads Manual. V-g and recording accelerometer data from a number of U.S. and British reports were extracted and summarised. In Section 2 a method is developed for extracting the information on manoeuvre loads required for design purposes. Section 3 gives tabulated data on the frequency of normal accelerations for a wide range of military aircraft and missions. Section 4 gives tables showing the corresponding mean, standard deviation, and skewness of the distribution of forward speeds associated with the high normal accelerations. In Section 5, tables are given showing the actual or predicted maximum speeds of numerous British service aircraft for standardised flying times. Section 6 gives a summary of analysis of the percentage time spent at various speeds by some selected U.S. aircraft (fighter/bombers, two trainers, one bomber, two transports). (Author)
