Large traction has to be produced at the undercarriage of the bulldozers to overcome the horizontal resistance caused by digging up and moving earth or ripping rocks, therefore, improvement in traction is one of the most efficient approaches to upgrade the performance of bulldozers. So far, many theoretical and experimental works have been accomplished and formulas have been introduced to predict traction and slippage of a tractor under given soil conditions. To improve the traction performance from another point of view, we have to find discrepancies in these theories or modify the formulas by adding new parameters.
