The Swedish Road and Traffic Research Institute has been asked to obtain new accident costs and standardization factors for accidents reported to the police on the national road network. Standardization implies weighting accidents both to take into account the severity of accidents and to attempt to compensate for non-reporting of accidents to the police. The basis for the studies consists of accident data for the years 1980-1984, a total of 148,000 accidents.
