The project lies on the east side of Lihue town, Island of Kauai. This 1.07 mile section of highway begins at a point on Rice Street adjoining the Lihue Industrial Park and connects to Ahukini Road approximately 0.50 mile west of the Lihue Airport. The proposed two lane highway, project with partial control of access, will have a pavement width of 24 feet with 10-foot shoulders and a design speed of 60 mph. It will not require any major structures or interchanges. The minimum width of right-of-way required is 100 feet. The highway will occupy land that is now used exclusively for sugar cane production.
