The report presents the final results of a study of the economic, social, demographic, geographic, political and technological factors which underlie the growth in transpacific air traffic. The purpose of the study was to develop detailed route segment forecasts of transpacific air traffic to assist the FAA in their assessment of the future need for a setellite communications system. Forecasts were developed for the following traffic segments: Scheduled Passenger, Non-Scheduled Passenger; Scheduled and Non-Scheduled Military Air Charter, All Cargo Service, and General Aviation. The forecasts were further disaggregated to indicate the type of aircraft equipment used and were developed for 1975, 1980 and 1985. (Modified author abstract)
