The development of hydrogen drives for road vehicles has been one of the main fields of research of the Daimler-Benz AG in the last decade. The first practical test with a fleet of 10 Mercedes-Benz hydrogen cars was started in 1984. The test is part of the research project 'Alternative fuels for road traffic' and is to last for 18 months. Among others, the applicability of hydrogen drives in driving practice is to be demonstrated. (ERA citation 10:039432)
