The purpose of this contract was to develop and place into operational status a new, combined research/inspection unmanned vehicle system called ARGO/JASON. ARGO is a high altitude search and survey vehicle for use in deep ocean exploration. A companion vehicle, JASON, which will be tethered to ARGO, will be a free swimming, highly maneuverable vehicle with manipulative capability and high quality vision for close-up inspection.
