The original procedure for on and off loading the M198 howitzer aboard a C130 cargo plane was determined to be time consuming and logistically unacceptable. This report details the reconfiguration of the howitzer from wide to narrow tires and the development of an improved jacking system and front bumper pintle assembly to improve air transportability. Keywords: Low Altitude Parachute Extraction System (LAPES) rails.
