The Study presents and analysis of current conditions of various segments of the aircraft industry including: The aircraft maintenance market; A description of the various facilities and services available at Duluth International Airport; and conclusions and recommendations. While the airline industry as a whole is in a state of transition, there are specific areas within the market that show promise. The market for conversions of passenger aircraft to a cargo configuration is considered strong and the potential to develop a facility specifically targeted toward this market niche is good. Other secondary markets which could develop into viable potential future areas of additional revenue are the business sector of general aviation and Regional/Commuter air carrier maintenance.
