The potential hazard was evaluated to an approaching or departing aircraft from a collision with a model rocket. Typically, these rockets have a gross weight of 1.5 kg (53 ounces) or less and carry a maximum of 0.125 kg (4.4 ounces) of propellant. The potential damage to jet transports, commuter aircraft, general aviation aircraft, and rotorcraft resulting from an impact with these rockets is determined.
