The papers include presentation of a new algorithm designed to minimize the length of the transition period in changing signal system timing plans while still providing acceptable service along all signal approaches in the system; a description of a simulation model that reproduces in the laboratory the traffic flow on any moderate-sized signalized street network; a comparison of a baseline of eight features regarded as desirable and independent of specific simulation purpose; and a summary of results of a study into distributions of speed and other traffic characteristics.
