The report describes a field experiment used to evaluate a theoretical method of determining helicopter aural detection distance. A test program was conducted using a light commercial helicopter, test observers, and supporting acoustic monitoring equipment. Various background ambient noise conditions were used at the observer location. Data was reduced, detection distances were obtained, and comparisons were made with theoretically predicted detection distances. (Author)
