This report describes the development of a conceptual design for a fire fighter vehicle training simulator. The simulator will be used to train Air Force fire fighters in fire suppression, vehicle operations, turret operations, decision making, tactics, and communications. A thorough analysis of all possible simulation techniques was conducted. The USAF approved conceptual design uses current state-of-the-art microprocessors, video systems, and theatrical fire and smoke techniques. The simulator is designed to be cost efficient, while taining the realism that is necessary for an effective crash rescue fire suppression simulator. One of the major outputs of the study was a video tape demonstrating the theatrical techniques and realistic capabilities of the designed simulator system. (Author)
