In 1981 some 100 million tonnes of aviation fuels were consumed outside the socialist states. 99% of this was kerosene for jet planes. There was only a very low demand for gasoline as fuel for piston-engine aircraft. If the demand for jet fuel will continue to increase throughout the Eighties, supply problems may arise, due to the fact that kerosenes are middle distillates which are urgently needed also in other industrial branches.
