The project involves the removal of surcharge, installation of drainage and the paving, lighting and marking of an outer taxiway approximately 2,900 feet in length and 100 feet in width. The project will complete all but one final phase of a long term program to establish a dual taxiway system around the outer perimeter of the terminal complex from North to South Hangar Areas in accordance with the Airport Layout Plan. The proposed project will enhance environmental quality through reductions in overall noise produced by aircraft ground operations and will thereby act to improve ambient noise levels in the Jefferies Point section of East Boston as compared with operations on the existing taxiway system.
