The purpose of this document is to recommend guidance and criteria on the provision of safe and effective pedestrian crossings. The guidelines should be useful to engineers and planners responsible for planning, designing, operating and maintaining pedestrian facilities in Texas. The guidelines are intended to outline the numerous alternatives that are available to address pedestrian safety problems or public concerns at roadway crossings.
