The objective of this study is to develop new coherent sources in the 16 mu region, for laser isotope separation of UF sub 6 . No laser emission in this region was detected in gaseous mixtures containing Br and F sources in a longitudinally discharged flow tube device, a multi-pin transversely discharged flow tube device, and a shock tube.
